Laura is a first year PhD Student in the History Department at Rutgers University. She is interested in migrations and diasporas in Colombia in the XX century, especially in the Colombian Caribbean. Currently, her research focuses on chinese diaspora: when the first chinese arrived, where they settled and why, how was the relationship with the host society, how the political changes in China affected the diaspora in Colombia, are some of the themes that her project explores.
Laura received her Bachelor in Arts in Political Science (2016), with honors, and Master of Arts in History (2019) from Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla-Colombia). She has worked as Teaching Assistant and as Research Assistant.
